It was narrated that the Prophet (peace and bleesings of Allah be upon Him) told Abdullah bin Masoud (may Allah be pleased with him) to recite the Qur’an to Him, Abdullah bin Masoud replied: “shall I recite (the Qur’an) to You while it has been revealed to You?” He (peace be upon Him) said: “I like to hear It from others.” [Al-Bukhari]
The Scholars differed concerning the Ruling on listening attentively to recitation of Qur’an outside of Prayer. There are two opinions, the first view is that is it obligatory, and the second view is that it is mustahabb and recommended.
Therefore the Muslim should keen to choose the most beloved sheikh’s voice to his heart in order to achieve the best humility (khushoo’) while listening to our Lord’s Glorious Words.
